Museum Members and Friends,
Like much of the south, I am hibernating from the cold air that has hit our area. I heard that there was snow at the museum. I also received a message from my daughter in Pensacola, Florida that they have 7" of snow on the ground...a new record. I hope and pray everyone stays safe and warm. Meanwhile, I am definitely counting down the days until spring!
Speaking of spring, the 2025 GALA is scheduled for April 26th. Open bar reception, dinner, a silent auction and a night of dancing! Pull out those suit coats, ties, cocktail dresses and dancing shoes. Not many opportunities to get dressed up these days, so come make a night of it! Look for the details and how to purchase tickets in this edition of the Ready Room.
December was special with a special filming with the C-45, the work being done on the Howard and our representatives attending ICAS (International Council of Air Shows) in Las Vegas. There is always something happening at the museum and if you have the time, we would love to have you get involved, from tours and events to restorations and maintenance.
Until next time!

Flight Worthy Filming with the C-45
|
Josiah Vaughn, a senior at Liberty University, came to our Rome Hanger to tell the story about his grandfather while filming his thesis with our C-45.
"Flight Worthy" is a short film that shares the true-life story of Tim Vaughan. During his time flying mail in the 1970s, he encountered dozens of severe emergencies while flying. The film focuses on his miraculous survival, and how God used dangerous circumstances to strengthen his faith and overcome his greatest fears.
We are so thrilled to be a part of this production and we look forward to a spring release of the film. You can donate to his GoFundMe page to help support his project.
You can learn more about the movie and a trailer by going to Josiah's Facebook Page.

Director Christine Lewis, Dave Biloz and Rich Henderson attended ICAS in Las Vegas in December. This convention has a huge exhibit hall, educational sessions, networking and discussion forums.
This meeting is an opportunity for professionals and experts to gather and share information. It also helps us let others know about the Museum and our unique flying aircraft available for flights and static displays at airshows in the southeastern U.S.

Work continues on the Howard as they prepare to move the aircraft to Rome. The control surfaces have been removed and the wings will be next. This is an incredible project and an opportunity to learn new skills.
If you are interested in learning more about the Howard and helping in the restoration, contact Christine Lewis at director@mofts.org.
