Happy New Year 2026!

F-14 Sightings

Life member and Docent Coordinator, Gil Espy, noticed our Sweet Little Miss was on an episode of "JAG" (Season 4, Episode 7, Angel 30), now available on Amazon Prime. Sweet Little Miss also does a flyby in the movie, "Final Countdown." Have you seen our F-14 in any other shows or movies?

Her fame also extends to being the last F-14 out of the “sandbox” after Desert Storm and the last F-14 to land on an aircraft carrier, the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71).
The F-14 was officially retired on Sept. 22, 2006, after 32 years of service to the fleet. The Museum of Flight is the only museum in Georgia to display the F-14 Tomcat.

The first image is the arrest landing of Sweet Little Miss on the USS Theodore Roosevelt, July 28, 2006. The second image is from the show "JAG," when Sweet Little Miss arrives on screen.

WWII Soldier Crafts

During WWII, soldiers would carve little gifts out of wood and bone for their girlfriends at home.  These gifts were called "Forget-me-nots." The one shown here is part of the museum collection.

This handmade soldier craft, along with a few others are part of the Pvt. Creed D. Goswick, WWII collection, which you can view at the museum, along with pictures of a couple of ladies he corresponded with (below), one of whom could possibly be his sweetheart. One of the photographs is signed with a lipstick kiss on the back!

"Private Creed D. Goswick. Born on 9 March 1924, he joined the U.S. Army on 27 April 1943 at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Georgia after four years at High School. Creed D. Goswick was shot in the leg on 8 August 1944. On that day, « I » Company and the 3rd Battalion of the 12th Infantry Regiment were attached on the right flank of the 117th Infantry Regiment - 30th Infantry Division, facing German forces towards Saint-Barthélémy. C. D. Goswick suffered from frostbite on his feet in January 1945 due to the very low temperatures. He died on 6 May 1997 at the age of 73."

Private Creed D. Goswick earned two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star.
